First Campus Update

Thank you to all of you who have given toward the purchase of our new campus! Thank you for praying that God’s will would be done at 303 East Nelson Road.

First of all, you need to know that Creative Kids Moses Lake is renting our building at 217 East Nelson. They provide a quality learning environment for preschool age children. Hours: 7:30am-5:30pm M-F (opening hours are flexible in the future). They presently have full time and part time options available for kiddos 2.5 yrs-5 yrs old. Call Jessica to find out more information about our program at 1 (509) 707-0196.

The Chapel building is being used multiple times throughout the week. Our offices are there. We have board meetings and staff meetings, Rooted, Men’s Breakfast, Life Groups, Seedlings, Young Life, and will have a Christmas event again this year (Christmas Carols & a Movie). You will need to bundle up for that!

We have been keeping up the outside, thanks to several of our men for doing the mowing and helping us get the well installed, so now all of our outside watering is from our own well!

We have met with an architect who has helped hundreds of churches build facilities or remodel them to accomplish what they believed God was calling them to do. He has proposed a four-meeting plan to help us develop a Master Plan for our property. We feel like this is our next step. We will meet with him in November to get this process started. (The first meeting will look at the big picture from a “35,000 foot level.” A Building Committee will be formed after the Master Plan is in place). He is planning to provide drawings for us to consider how we might use the current facilities to the fullest. That has some challenges, considering a roof that leaks, only when it rains (ha ha!), a new HVAC system is needed, no handicapped access to the lower level, and other challenges that need to be addressed. We are using space heaters to keep the water pipes from freezing this winter. Last winter we used the old gas boiler and the cost was nearly $500 per month for minimal heat. With all that said, the architect told us that could all be considered and still potentially be less expensive than building new. He will be drawing up some sketches to consider. That will be exciting!

Over $7000 was given in August, thanks to a large chunk coming in from the Yard Sale! Nearly $600 was given in September. Our balance (on the entire property) is now approximately $287,000 (down from $500,000 when we purchased in June 2018). We are nearly halfway paid off!

The Board’s goal when we bought the 7.2 acres was to reduce the mortgage to $200,000 as our first priority. The reasoning behind this is the way our purchase contract is set up. We cannot sell any of the property until the balance is down to $200,000. Whether or not we sell some of it in the future, we need to get it paid down in a timely manner.

If any of you can help us keep the Chapel and surrounding property clean, please mark that on your Connect Card or email with what you are willing to do and when you might be available. Susan Hawkins will be coordinating the inside cleaning plan.

If you have ideas or thoughts about the use of the land or buildings, please mark that on your Connect Card or email
